| Involvement in a NYSNLA Region is the best way to make the most of your NYSNLA membership. Connect with others in your community, attend Regional events, and represent NYSNLA on the state level through your Region. There are eight NYSNLA regions covering New York State. The regional associations of NYSNLA operate with their own boards of directors and By-laws with the added support of the state Association. NYSNLA leadership and the leadership of each of the eight regional associations are committed to jointly expanding member services and delivering value to the full membership. NYSNLA Regions and the State AssociationThe relationship between NYSNLA and the regional associations is based upon communication and support. NYSNLA provides overall strategic direction for the Association, coordinates state and regional leadership initiatives, develops statewide communications programs that link the regions and members and delivers valuable and timely information, manages the CNLP program and develops other professional development programs delivered centrally or through the regional structure, maintains an aggressive advocacy program, and hosts at least one annual statewide event to create a sense of unity and purpose within the Association. Most importantly, NYSNLA is an important source of support for the regions, assisting with program development, membership initiatives, and helps to bring all regional operations to a uniformly high level of member value. Regions are independent to define their own programs and services including grassroots membership development, networking through e-mail and local events, educational programs and training, peer support and local advocacy on local legislative issues.
