2014 Environmental Beautification Awards
The NYSNLA Landscape Beautification Awards Program program acknowledges excellence in landscape design and construction, inspire creativity, recognize quality, educate our membership and the public, and foster goodwill through friendly competition. The program is open to all NYSNLA members in good standing who have completed landscape design/architecture projects. Projects are eligible where the applicant(s) has performed substantially all of the work in this submission from the design through project completion. The submitted project must have been completed during the period of October 2011 through December 2013.
Panel of Judges
A panel of distinguished professionals in the field of landscape construction and architecture, education, and horticulture will evaluate the entries. The judging process is "blind," meaning that the entrants' identities and project locations are not revealed to the judges. All entries will be reviewed and judged on the quality of materials (both plant and construction), design, completeness of installation, workmanship, and horticultural correctness in the landscape installation using the plans, photos and photo descriptions that are submitted.
Complete entries must include:
- A completed Entry Form including photo descriptions
- Photography Consent Form
$100 Entry Fee
A presentation binder containing the following items in print or a flashdrive containing digital copies of the following:
w Optional design and planting plans
w A minimum of 12 - 14 printed 8x10 photographs (before, during, and after pictures
State grand prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the judges. An award may not necessarily be awarded for each category. Entries earning 75 points or more will be designated NYS Landscapes of Distinction. Special recognition may also be made to these entries that merit special consideration. A Judge's Special Award may be given if deemed appropriate by the judges.
Presentation Of Awards
Recipients will be honored and their awards presented during a ceremony in the Court of Honor of the John Deere Horticulture Building at The Great New York State Fair in August.
Award winners will be featured on the NYSNLA website, www.nysnla.com, and in its magazine, Nursery Lines.
